Maria Rebecca Ballestra
Sanremo 1974

Maria Rebecca Ballestra was born in Sanremo in 1974 and has worked as an artist since 1993. She graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence, in 1998 and has been collaborating with the Museo d´Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci of Prato and the Archeological museum of Rethymno (Crete−Greece), as well as on humanitarian projects such as Casa Doru and Casa Andreja in Bucarest, together with the journalist Mino d´Amato and designer Edoardo Malagigi. Furthermore, she is working with the Tuscan Regional Administration ad the Florentine radio station Controradio on an editorial project which gathers interviews with the major artists who have worked in Florence.

As a freelance journalist she collaborates with important dramatists amongst whom Marcos Rosenzvaig, and she has published various features in pagina 12 (Argentina), El Mundo (Spain) and Panorama (Italy).
She represented Italy at the Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean Biennial which took place in Athens in 2003, the same year she was selected for the artist residence program at Europos Parkas
(Vilnius − Lithuania).


Amongst her most important exhibitions it´s worth mentioning her participation at Exhibition FLASHES− curated by Contemporary Art Museum Villa Croce (Genoa − Italy), Big Screen Yunnan Art Institute, (Kunming − Yunnan − China), Art´s diary Intervene − Taipei Artist Village (Taiwan) curated by Ashley Chang, Capturing Utopia − Fournos Center for Digital Image (Athens − Greece), Rolled up − Piclked Art of Bejing (China) curated by Stefania Carrozzini.
